Evaluation Question 4

 1. Do you think new technology actually had too much of a say in your production work. - did the technology avalaible determine what you created ? or do you think you controlled the technology skilfully to do the exactly what they wanted to do ?
-I don't think the technology you have available does determine what you produce, for example the video camera i used which was a sony DV , didn't produce good quality video clips but at the editing stage i was able to use colour corrector on sony vegas and made the video more bright and vibrant and also added some contrast , So that my video could match the chosen genre . Also if i had used a HD camera i think the video would have been better quality but again this can be improved during the editing stage. My products relied a lot on technology but it was a mixture of traditional technologies and new technologies.

2. What is the relationship between creativity and new media technology  ? how did it help or hinder your creativity to use all this technology ?
I think new media technology helps and improves creativity because it allows experimentation and this applied to me because i was able to try out a lot of different video affects and that did inspire and influence my creativity.

3. how have you used Media 2.0 technologies to push your work into new directions .
Most of my project is driven by using web 2.0 technologies such as using YouTube to upload my draft videos and focus groups and then embedding them onto my blog or sharing onto my facebook page. Using YouTube i was also able to contact the artist when i was asking for permission to use her music.the social networking sites such as facebook and skype helped me interact with my target audience, i was able to ask them for feedback and it was an easy and free way to connect with my target audience and i could also respond to audience suggestions and comments. The audiences involvement in my project was critical because it helped me understand how to improve my products and they weren't Just passively accepting what i was showing them they are actively shaping my music video and print products. One of the most usefull web 2.0 sites i used was slide share , it allowed me to post presentation onto my blog , which i couldn't directly upload myself because of HTML .

Evaluation Question 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback ?

For my audience feedback on my digipack i decided to use Facebook . I came up with a few open questions i could ask so i could gain some qualitative responses which gives a lot of insight. I have used Facebook on many occasions to ask for feedback because its an easy way to reach my target audience and it not time consuming , its quick and effective.

 The summary

the audience mainly have a preferred reading to my digipack and they easily identify the digipack as part of the RnB genre because it follows a lot if generic convention so it was easy for the target audience to recognize and they all thought the images were appropriate and representative of the genre but one thing they though i could change , adding the name of the artist on the spine of the cover. From this feedback i can tell that my digipack would be received positively by a mainstream audience.

 Music video feedback
For my music video  feedback i chose to use a focus group .
Using a focus group has many advantage e.g. they are useful to obtain detailed information about personal and group feelings, perceptions and opinions and they can provide a broader range of information and easy to analyse.

 The summary
The audience had a preferred reading of the music video they recognised the values. My main theme is about love and loss and this is expressed through the visuals , lyrics and the music and the audience were able to identify this. If there is one thing i could change it would be the editing of my video , the audience clearly thought the editing couldd have been be better.
Print advert feedback.
To get feedback for my print advert i decided is to ask a few open ended questions and have the audience respond anonymously because i thought it would encourage honest and i thought it was practical.

Are there any general improvements ?

Is the magazine print advert realistic ? and in what way ?

Do you think  the font is appropriate ?

Any other general comments ?

Summary
The audience response shows that they generally see the magazine print advert in a positive way but they do think it could improved somethings e.g. the placing of certain words and the icons not being visible enough , if i had to do this again this would be something i would change. They think the print as is realistic and is similar to real media texts . Through out this whole project the audience feedback has been vital and very helpful because it helped be more creative and to look at things from a different perspective. If there was anything i would change in terms of feedback if i had to this again , would be that i would have asked more specific questions.
